Biography
Dr. Poh Keng Soon is a fellowship-trained consultant orthopaedic surgeon with extensive experience in treating a broad spectrum of orthopaedic conditions, including sports injuries, trauma, inflammatory, overuse, and degenerative conditions. Dr. Poh has accumulated over 15 years of medical experience in the public sector prior to establishing his private practice.
Dr. Poh specialises in minimally invasive keyhole (arthroscopic) and joint replacement (arthroplasty) surgeries, particularly of the shoulder and elbow joints, such as arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs and reconstruction for recurrent shoulder dislocations.
He performs a high volume of shoulder replacement surgeries for advanced arthritis, employing computer planning and 3D printed patient-specific instrumentations to ensure precise implant placement and optimal clinical outcomes.
Currently practising at Orthopaedics and Hand Surgery Partners, Gleneagles Hospital, Dr. Poh also serves as a Visiting Consultant at the National University Hospital. Additionally, he holds the position of Adjunct Assistant Professor at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, actively contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate education in orthopaedic surgery.
Having previously practised at the National University Hospital and Alexandra Hospital, Dr. Poh played a key role in the Sports Medicine, Shoulder, and Elbow Division, handling a substantial number of simple and complex orthopaedic cases, particularly those related to the shoulder and elbow joints. As the core faculty for the National Postgraduate Year 1 Programme for Orthopaedic Surgery, he contributed to a structured training program for junior doctors.
Dr. Poh earned his Medical Degree in 2009 and underwent training in the Postgraduate Specialist Programme for Orthopaedic Surgery at the National University Health System (NUHS), Singapore. He became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 2013 and obtained the Master of Medicine (Orthopaedic Surgery, National University of Singapore) in 2017. Completing his specialist training, he was appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2018.
Subsequently, Dr. Poh received the Ministry of Health (MOH) Human Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) award to further pursue subspecialty training in Melbourne, Australia, with a focus on sports, shoulder, and elbow surgery. During this period, he gained valuable experience in treating complex shoulder and elbow injuries, particularly among professional athletes.
